CROHN'S AND COLITIS FOUNDATION NATIONAL COUNCIL OF COLLEGE LEADERS (NCCL)

Video created by Grady Stewart.

I was privileged to be selected to serve on the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation National Council of College Leaders, a group that advocates for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease community, especially among college students and young people. I am now the NCCL Communications workgroup chair; directing and overseeing the work team, managing all the social channels, collaborating with the Education, Advocacy, and Revenue workgroups to support patients and families with IBD.

One of the big annual events for NCCL is “Day on the Hill” where we meet with senators, congressmen, and staff to advocate for the IBD community. Patients, friends, and family from all over the country participate in the event. NCCL members lead community groups, host a panel, and oversee event activities.

Beyond that, I have been highly involved in my local community as a volunteer and leader.  One major role I had is leading the marketing for the 2018 New Orleans Area Take Steps Challenge, where we fundraise for Crohn’s and Colitis research. I have also served as photographer for the Take Steps Event and several other community-wide events in 2017 and 2018.
