Bauhaus Futura Poster
The concept for this poster was to create a print spread on the history of Futura's development and usage as a font. Immediately, was inspired by the ultra-clean and modern appearance of Futura. As I was doing research, I discovered that Futura was the first font to be used on the moon. Thus, I fused space imagery with the geometric principles of Bauhaus design. The light and clean colors of the design help enhance the design's futuristic tone. To me, the piece is an example of my work with the
principles of design in a print medium.
As a Mass Communications and Film and Media Arts double major, I have worked extensively with the principles of design. As a result, my work extends across print and web design, like the graphics shown.
Cresent City Pattern
This pattern features the classic Louisiana color
combination of purple and gold. The two colors
are notable for their connection
to Louisiana State University and their usage
during Mardi Gras. The crescent moon graphic is a reference to New Orleans's popular nickname of
"The Cresent City."

This pattern uses the traditional Mardi Gras color scheme
and introduces stripes to create high contrast
between the different colors. I used different symbols
like the Mardi Gras masks. The masks are inspired
by the traditional comedy and tragedy masks of the
theater. I included them as representations of
the city's unique culture and lively citizens.
Crescent City Pattern #3
Cubism Jazz Poster
This poster was created separately from the series of patterns. My objective was to create a poster that captured a jazz vibe while using cubism as my guiding art style. I used warm and dirty tones to create the sensation of being in an old jazz club. I relied on fragment shapes and chaotic angles to enhance the elements of cubism in my piece. I inserted symbols and the names of famous streets in New Orleans to tie it back to the city. I expanded my skills by challenging myself to work with alternative artistic styles.

Cresent City Pattern
This pattern is the biggest deviation from the style of the
series. I wanted to experiment with using alternative
colors. Specifically, I wanted to incorporate bolder and
more vibrant tones. The other patterns were fairly
similar in color and contrast. I wanted to create one
pattern that stood out from the rest. I also wanted to
challenge myself to capture the style of New Orleans
without relying on traditional colors.
Crescent City Pattern #5
These pieces are a series of New Orleans patterns and designs that I created in the visual communications course. I wanted to emphasis iconic New Orleans symbols and locales. I strived to create a style that reflected the unique culture of the city. I focused on themes of jazz music, architecture, and history. I wanted to create an off-beat vibe through the use of vibrant colors, high contrast, and unusual shapes. All in all, these designs helped me delve deeper into illustration.
